The Bug Barn Lobster Punch Bag

From the Surf to Summit website -
You caught a lobster! Now what do you do?
Punch that cantankerous crustacean into your Surf to Summit Bug Barn of course!
Our lobster bag is constructed from puncture-resistant 600-denier weatherproof fabrics wrapped around a rigid stainless steel frame.
The massive 21" one-way opening provides ample access for your lobster catch, and the enclosure itself, measuring in at 22"W x 27.5"H, will hold the legal limit of lobsters.
Simply push the lobster in tail first; there are no doors or zippers to mess with. The exposed wire frame provides an excellent attachment point for hooking the punch bag to your kayak or your dive rig, and the mesh storage pocket allows for quick access to tools and gear.
The bottom-mounted non-corroding plastic zipper provides an easy way to extract your catch, and the whole shebang is bright safety-yellow.

It is just okay.

So on this bag, I love the tension top for getting bugs in. I think the zippered bottom is brilliant, since you would find it extremely difficult to pull a bunch of lobsters, gripping each other, out the top. The plastic zipper is extremely durable and can tolerate a bit of sand and abuse. The little pocket on the front is great for carrying an extra gauge, or other oddities (I put scallop meat in mine so the lobsters don't eat it). A modification I had to make on mine was on the tension bar. I was on a dive and noticed the bag was wide open, lobster was gone. The strapping is able to slip off the bar if tugged on (easy to do). I took some twine and whipped around the end and closed off the gap. I should not have to do that on a bag this expensive. It is also quite bulky in the water (big on a kayak). The material had a fair amount of drag so it slows me down pretty well. It is nice to be able to fit a limit of 5 pound bugs in one bag, but usually it is just one or two just legals and a lot of space. It would be better if it was a little shorted and a bit narrower. If you are looking at bags in this price range consider also the one hand spring squeeze open bags from Trident(GB88). They are durable, easy to use and are a better size to manage.
